Whether you are a midcentury minimal purist or a vintage lover with a kitschy vibe, the holidays are a fun time to play it up. If you have visited our Press page recently, you’ve seen that Exactly has been featured in Atomic Ranch’s 2023 winter issue. To kick off the holiday season is a post one part social history, one part Thanksgiving must-haves in, “7 Essentials for your Mid Mod Thanksgiving Table.” I always includes one of my vintage salt-and-pepper sets on the table.
Following that is an article for those of you who like to take a theme and run with it! Mid century house? Check. Decor? Check. Cookies to match? Here you go. Break out your vintage spritz cookie press (that weird tube thing you inherited from your grandma) for “Holiday Cookies Fit for an MCM Home.”
Elin and her kids have had fun making their own midcentury replica gingerbread houses. If you are short on time check out World Market. They have a cute and affordable MCM gingerbread kit.
And to finish up, a list of classic cocktails served up with a bit of mixology trivia in “5 Mid Century Modern Cocktail Recipes for the Holidays.” We especially loved the beautiful photographs in this one. They really captured that middle class glam of the 1950s and 60s. Elin made this cranberry gem to decorate our family table last year. Along with vintage linens and 3D printed Danish modern reindeer courtesy of my son, it made for a festive display.
Adding a little midcentury flare to the holidays doesn’t need to be complicated or exhausting. We’re here to encourage fun self-expression! So grab a cozy blanket, your favorite drink in a vintage glass, and enjoy 15 minutes of down time while you get inspired by these holiday ideas.
